Responsive Music Interfaces for Performance

Reactive musical controls exchange physical feedback with a performer.

About the work

This research develops musical interfaces that respond to a performer through haptics and robotic actuation. A linear sliding control demonstrates how an instrument can move and provide physical feedback as part of a performance.

The project was demonstrated at the New Interfaces for Musical Expression conference in Pittsburgh in 2009 and accepted as a conference paper.
