Pavlov
A constantly ringing telephone asks for an answer that visitors are forbidden to give.
About the work
A telephone sits on a pedestal and rings continuously. Visitors are instructed not to answer it, turning an everyday demand for attention into an unresolved interaction.
Despite the restriction, visitors picked up, unplugged, and silenced the phone. The work was shown in Fresh Media at Friend St. Gallery in Boston in 2012.
