About the series
CiAo (Code in Art Out) is a series of generative artworks in which source code forms part of the aesthetic object. The works show both a program's visual output and the instructions that produce it.
The series explores how complex forms emerge from simple rules, as well as questions of ownership, authorship, sharing, digital preservation, editions, and artistic control. The programs are written in HTML5 and ECMAScript and run in a web browser.
