The Birds Are Watching Us, They Have Wings and We Have Arms — installation view

Descriptions proposed by GPT-3 became starting points for text-to-image systems including DALL-E 2. Reben selected from the results, and painting artisans translated chosen images into oil paintings.

The installation placed these paintings and generated descriptions beside a dense wallpaper strip of images, bringing different stages of the process into the same room.
